During the Russian Immersion camp, students will explore Sports, Arts, Games, Nature, Food, Animals, Weather, and other aspects of life in different countries through lessons and daily activities. New vocabulary and various concepts of grammar and usage will be introduced and practiced through games, hands-on assignments, ditties, stories, short video clips, and various puzzles.
This program is presented in Russian and can be beneficial for both native speakers and Russian as a Second Language students.
The 2:00-5:00 extension will focus on visual or performing arts.

Daria Minhall, a certified Montessori teacher, graduated from Chelyabinsk State Institute of Culture and Arts (Russia) and has been teaching Russian and RSL for years. Dasha is a mother raising two bilingual kids. She started working at the Do-Re-Mi as a Russian and RSL teacher in the spring of 2020. Every summer, Daria conducts Russian Immersion Day Camp. She’s adventurous enough to include the cooking of national dishes in her camp program!

Angela Kozarevich, a professional elementary school teacher, has worked at the Do-Re-Mi almost since its very beginning, equipping hundreds of students with solid reading skills. Angela adheres to the principle that conversational language should be a basis for learning to read, and not vice versa, so her lessons always include language development which is always engaging.
In a summer camp program, Angela builds up on her huge arsenal of fun interactive acitivities, filled with movements, toys, puzzles, role play, music and rhythm games, and craft projects.

Tanya Pisklarov. With a B.A. from Donetsk Pedagogical College and an M.A. from Slav Pedagogical Institute (Donetsk, Ukraine) majoring in Elementary Education and Psychology, Tanya taught young children in the Donetsk public school system for 9 years before moving to the USA. In New Jersey, she works in Elmwood Park PS (grades K-5) and has taught Russian in various daycare centers and afterschool programs since 2001. In the Do-Re-Mi from 2022. She was running the Russian Immersion Camp in 2023 and 2024.
