Tournaments
Livingston Junior Chess Series
Our chess coach, Max Farberov, United States Chess Federation National Master, Life Master, and USCF Tournament Director, is hosting monthly tournaments
Livingston Junior Chess Series.
Open to all players K-12, in three sections: U500, U1000 & U1500. 3-round Swiss, time control: G30 D5. All sets and clocks provided; trophies for the 3 finishers in each section!
First round at 10:30 AM, then ASAP. Award ceremony at tournament completion, approx 2:30 PM. Please arrive at least 10 mins before tournament start time!
Friday Games Sessions
To give students a low-pressure tournament experience, we offer weekly Friday Game Sessions from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Players are paired according to level (from B2 through FM) and get to practice key tournament skills—playing a variety of opponents, keeping notation, and using chess clocks.
Each session begins with a structured “mock tournament”, followed by game analysis and open play. Beyond skill-building, these evenings foster meaningful connections. Many students form long-term friendships through shared interests and real-life (not virtual) socializing.
