There is a flat per-year tuition fee for all days of the week that covers instruction, cost of materials, unless specifically mentioned, and Spring concert (rent and awards.)

All prices are given for group instruction (3 and more students.) For private and semi-private (partner) setting, please see the prices below.

Combination of two or more 30- or 45-min. classes is a sum of tuition fees for these classes, not the amount listed as 2-hour class, unless the discount for the specific combination is mentioned.

Discount: 5% off from 3 or 4 weekly group classes (one child or siblings); 10% off from 5 or more weekly group classes. Private lessons are not subject to discount.

* Russian instruction is primarily given in a small group (3-7 students.) Private 30-min. and partner 45-min. lessons are scheduled if there is not enough students of the same level. Private 45-60-min. and semi-private 60-min. lessons may be available on request, but can't be guaranteed. If a student is absent, the length of the lesson remains the same. If the student is withdrawn or transfered to the other class, the lesson time will be adjusted and parents of remaining students will be notified.

** ADVANCED ART (Tue.; Leonid Shoshensky): due to a special quality of materials required by the instructor, each student shall bring his or her own materials for his or her sole use for each lesson. The cost of materials is not included in tuition.

93 A So. Livingston Ave.
Livingston, NJ 07039

  1. Postdated checks, you choose the number: between two (one for each semester) and ten (monthly payments) totaling the amount of tuition for all classes, will be deposited on the date written on each check.

  2. You can establish recurring payments from your bank to the Do-Re-Mi School (93A So. Livingston Ave., Livingston, NJ 07039) totaling in yearly tuition.

  3. Please note that we strongly prefer postdated checks or recurring bank payments. However, if you prefer to pay monthly at the beginning of each month and monthly tuition is not paid by the 10th day of the month, e-mail reminders will be sent weekly and $10 administrative fee will be charged for each reminder.

  4. In Full

Please note:

  • If a child is registered for one or two classes only, feel free to limit the number of checks if possible (1 check for each class for each semester.)
  • If you want to add more classes to your child’s schedule during the course of the semester, tuition will be prorated and no additional registration fee will be charged. Payment is required at the time of registration if you pay by checks, or your automatic monthly payments have to be recalculated.
  • The NSF charge is $25 for any returned check.

Refunds

Tuition is refundable in case of early withdrawal. Withdrawal must be done in person, by mail or e-mail and will not be accepted over the phone. All unprocessed checks, dated after the one-month notice period, will be returned, or refund will be issued for all remaining lessons starting one month after notification, except for June: June tuition will only be refunded if the family is moving out of town.

Missed Lessons

Group Lessons

  • There is no refund for missed lessons for any reason. There are no adjustments made for both unexpected (e.g. illness) and planned absences, such as vacations, birthday parties, or any other conflicts.

  • If you have to cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson might be arranged on your request if you give a 24-hour notice. However, this cannot be guaranteed.

  • Make-up lessons for Russian will be limited to one during the semester for a student. Please understand that make-up lessons are VERY DISRUPTIVE and consider requesting the lesson and homework worksheets instead. Physical presence at the lesson with the other class may be far LESS effective than studying your child's own worksheets with him or her at home. (We'll gladly mail them to you on your request; this is why we ask you for your home address.)

    (1) the teachers are required to use their judgment whether or not including a particular student into a particular class for a make-up will be really beneficial for this student, or just will make the parents feel that they didn't miss the opportunity;
    (2) while any reasonable effort will be made to reschedule the class, it is subject to teacher's availability, and cannot be guaranteed.

  • If you missed a group lesson, you cannot receive a private lesson as a make-up.

  • All make-ups have to be resolved within the same year and cannot be transferred to the summer or next year.

  • Please understand that you are paying not for the lessons in general, but for the lessons on a particular day at a particular time. Operating by economical terms, this is perishable product that cannot be returned or exchanged.

  • If the lesson is missed by the teacher

    • substitute teacher will be assigned for the regular scheduled lesson(s.) If the student prefers not to participate in the lesson given by a substitute teacher, the adjustment will not be made.

    • the teacher is allowed, with a prior consent from the parents, to give a series of longer lessons (i.e. two 45-min. lessons instead of one missed 30-min. lesson; or three 60-min. lessons instead of a missed 45-min. lesson etc.)

    • the teacher can arrange a make-up lesson; at least 3/4 of all students should be able to attend. Remaining students have to arrange attendance of the other suitable class.

  • Lessons missed due to snow days:
If you find the road condition unsafe, please call 201-341-3381 to double check if the school is closed. We may follow and may NOT follow public schools closing because most of our lessons start in a few hours after public schools closing. If the lessons are canceled due to inclement weather, the first snow day (of each day of the week) will NOT be made up. If the second snow day occurs on the same day of the week, please arrange a make-up on an individual basis. Please call 201-341-3381 for all emergency information.

Private lessons

There is no refund or adjustments for missed lessons. Lessons falling on religious holidays, plus one lesson for any reason during the semester will be rescheduled on your request. If you have to reschedule more lessons per semester, please switch your time slot with any other student on the swap list directly (the list is provided by the school on request.) If you want to be excluded from the swap list, please send an e-mail to doremistudio@yahoo.com. If you choose to be excluded from the swap list, the school will not assume responsibility for switching your time slot with the time slot of the other student.

If you want to stop for the summer before the last scheduled lesson, please plan on taking additional lessons before the recital instead. Our experience shows that additional lessons before a concert significantly improve the child's performance.

BEHAVIOR

Every child coming to the Do-Re-Mi school is expected to be respectful to the teachers, other children and school property, and not to be disruptive to the flow of the class. If the child is disruptive or disrespectful, the school can suggest the parents to withdraw a child.
If the child is disruptive to the classes while s/he is waiting for another class in the waiting area, or if the parents feel the child is not safe if left unsupervised between the classes, it is parents’ responsibility to arrange supervision. The school does not provide supervision before, between and after the classes.
